☆Optimization
先日、引退後、東京に在する某行政機関で、翻訳に関わる仕事をしている兄から、” 資本主義のバージョンアップ”のバージョンアップ(日本語英語）をどう訳すか, “新資本主義?”, で意見を求められました。表題になるそうで…. 結局、ネイティヴの校正者も入れていくつかの案を出し合い、”New Form of Capitalism”に決定したそうなのですが、前後のコンテクストから、”Optimization “という言葉も適しているのではないか, と、いう話しで盛り上がりました。 そもそも、資本主義に”新”も”旧”もないし… なら、いっそ、修正資本主義(revised capitalism)と言ったほうが、いいんじゃないかな〜（私） が、海外受けしても、日本人の反応、一般受けも大事だし….Hmmm タイトル/文献の翻訳…. 読み手を意識しながら… 興味深いです。

毎年、この時期になると、卒業を控えた大学生達とこのスピーチを聞いています。毎回、感動します。
“Commencement”は、アメリカの大学で行われる卒業式を意味する言葉ですが、本来は、”始まり”を意味します。 卒業が、終わりではなく、新しい人生の”始まり”と捉えてる所に意義を感じます。
